LA Dodgers’ star Shohei Ohtani is a heavy favorite in the 2024 All-Star Game MVP odds. Ohtani is making his fourth All-Star Game appearance and his first since joining the Dodgers with a record-setting contract this past offseason. Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and over a dozen other top players in the MLB will join Ohtani in the All-Star Game this season.
This MLB betting guide will provide an in-depth look at the current All-Star Game odds for MVP. I will discuss the top contenders and give my predictions for MVP. Also, I will tell you my favorite prop bets for this year’s All-Star Game.
All-Star Game Odds for MVP
The 2024 MLB All-Star Game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16th. It caps off this year’s All-Star Weekend and will feature many of the game’s top stars. Check out the table below to see the current odds for the top All-Star Game MVP candidates, courtesy of Lucky Cola Sportsbook.
Player | All-Star Game MVP Odds | Current Team | Number of All-Star Appearances |
Shohei Ohtani | +550 | LA Dodgers (NL) | 4 |
Aaron Judge | +1200 | New York Yankees (AL) | 6 |
Juan Soto | +1200 | New York Yankees (AL) | 4 |
Bryce Harper | +1200 | Philadelphia Phillies (NL) | 8 |
Fernando Tatis Jr. | +1200 | San Diego Padres (NL) | 2 |
Christian Yelich | +1400 | Milwaukee Brewers (NL) | 3 |
Steven Kwan | +1400 | Cleveland Guardians (AL) | 1 |
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. | +1500 | Toronto Blue Jays (AL) | 4 |
Jurickson Profar | +1500 | San Diego Padres (NL) | 1 |
Trea Turner | +1600 | Philadelphia Phillies (NL) | 3 |
Gunnar Henderson | +1600 | Baltimore Orioles (AL) | 1 |
Shohei Ohtani (+550)
Ohtani is making his fourth All-Star appearance this season. He is the +550 favorite to win the MVP award for the 2024 All-Star Game. Ohtani has made the All-Star Game every year since 2021 but has never won the MVP.
He is still recovering from his elbow surgery last year, so Ohtani has not been able to pitch this season. His renewed focus on hitting could be exactly what Ohtani needs to win his first All-Star Game MVP
Aaron Judge (+1200)
Four All-Stars are tied for the second-best odds to win MVP of the ASG this year. Two players in this four-way tie are New York Yankees, including the current home-run leader, Aaron Judge. Judge is making his sixth appearance in the ASG, but he has never won the game MVP.
Judge has made six of the last seven All-Star Games. He missed the cut in 2019 after missing two months of the season with an oblique strain.
The two-time home run king has struggled in his previous ASG appearances. On the other hand, Judge has played lights out this season, and this could be the year he turns it around.
Juan Soto (+1200)
The other Yankee listed at 12-1 odds to win the 2024 ASG MVP is Juan Soto. Soto joined the Yankees this season following a December trade and, along with Judge, has been a key part of the Yankees’ 50-22 start. Despite the team’s 5-16 skid, Soto has played well this season.
This will be Soto’s fourth ASG appearance and his first as a member of the American League team. Soto and Judge are the only members of the AL listed in the top five All-Star Game odds for MVP.
American League players had won nine straight ASG MVPs, but Colorado’s Elias Diaz broke that streak last year. Soto and Judge are the best bets for the AL to reclaim its dominance in ASG MVPs.
Bryce Harper (+1200)
There are also two National League players tied with Judge and Soto at +1200 odds to win All-Star MVP. The first is Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper, who is making his eighth ASG appearance.
Harper has led the Phillies to a 59-32 record, the best in the National League so far this year. He is hitting .299 this season and has 20 home runs. Harper’s OBP (.394), SLG (.574), and OPS (.968) this season are all better than his career averages.
He has the second-most All-Star appearances of any player in this year’s game and has been an ASG regular since 2012. However, Harper has never won the MVP for the game.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+1500)
Toronto Blue Jays’ star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is listed at +1500 to win his second All-Star Game MVP. He is tied with Jurickson Profar and behind Christian Yelich (+1400) and Steven Kwan (+1400). Guerrero recently suffered a hand injury but is still scheduled to make his fourth ASG appearance, giving him more experience than Profar, Yelich, or Kwan.
Another feather in Guerrero’s cap is that he has already won ASG MVP. Vladdy was just 22-years-old when he claimed the award in 2021, making Guerrero the youngest MVP in All-Star Game history. He hit a home run and racked up 2 RBIs in the 2021 ASG, locking up a 5-2 win for the AL.
Vladdy is still just 25 and still has plenty of power in his swings. A well-timed home run could help Guerrero save the day again and win his second MVP. On the other hand, there has been a first-time MVP winner in every ASG since Mike Trout won back-to-back awards in 2014 and 2015.
All-Star Game MVP Prediction
The best the MLB has to offer will take the field in next week’s 2024 All-Star Game. All of the players above are capable of taking over a game and are worthy MVP candidates. Shohei Ohtani has the best All-Star Game MVP odds and is my pick to win the award this season.
Ohtani’s inability to pitch this season has allowed him to focus on hitting instead. He currently leads the AL in home runs with 28 and is averaging a career-high .315 hitting percentage this season. This will also be his first ASG appearance where his entire season has been focused on hitting.
Prediction: Shohei Ohtani wins the 2024 All-Star Game MVP (+550)
MLB All-Star Game Props
In addition to offering exciting MVP betting markets. Bovada also has great All-Star Game props. Here are three of my favorite props available for the 2024 ASG.
Any Player Intentionally Walked (+750)
Intentionally walking a batter is the best way to pitch around the best hitters in the league. Many of the top hitters in the league will be suiting up for this year’s ASG. Lucky Cola has any player being intentionally walked listed at +750.
This bet can win regardless of the player being walked. However, the walk has to be intentional for this wager to hit. At +750 odds, though, it is worth the risk to bet on this prop.
Prediction: A player is intentionally walked in the 2024 ASG (+750)
Shohei Ohtani 1+ Home Runs and National League Wins (+750)
Another prop bet that I like for this year’s ASG is for Shohei Ohtani to hit at least one home run and for the NL to win. The MVP favorite is listed at -200 to have at least one hit in this year’s ASG and +110 to score at least one run.
If that hit is a home run, then you will be halfway to winning this bet. The NL is the -105 underdog, but its star-studded roster dominates the MVP odds above. I think Ohtani can hit at least one homer and lead the NL to victory en route to winning the game’s MVP.
Prediction: Shohei Ohtani has 1+ home runs and the National League wins (+750)
3+ Total Home Runs in the All-Star Game (+155)
I also like the value of this prop bet for the number of total home runs at this year’s All-Star game. Sports betting sites are offering +155 payout odds for 3+ total home runs in the 2024 ASG.
As I mentioned above, I think Ohtani will have at least one home run during the game. There have been at least three home runs hit in two of the last three All-Star Games. I believe that trend will continue, and at least three home runs will be hit this year.
Prediction: 3+ Total home runs in the 2024 All-Star Game (+155)
